Barbara Philipp, born October 19, 1965 in Wittlich, is a German actress and radio actress. She studied German language and literature as well as film and theater studies at the Free University of Berlin after graduating from high school. She then completed her acting training at the Berlin acting school "Der Kreis" (Fritz Kirchhoff School) and New York's HB Studios from 1988 to 1993.
After her training, she returned to Germany and had engagements at renowned theaters such as Schaubühne am Halleschen Ufer, Berliner Ensemble and Staatsschauspiel Dresden. In 2018, she was part of the "Wilde Welt Wald - Theater Performance" by BBM, Galerie Divan and the Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve.
Barbara Philipp made her film debut in 1994 in the leading role as Franziska Bäcker in the ZDF film drama "Nah am Wasser" directed by Marc Ottiker, alongside Sven Pippig. She appeared in the short film "Spieglein, Spieglein" in the same year. From 1997 to 1998 she played the role of Katja Goldbach in the television series "Die Kids von Berlin". In 1999, she was cast for a supporting role in the Kerstin Gier adaptation "Männer und andere Katastrophen." In the ZDF crime series "Einmal Bulle, immer Bulle," she was a member of the regular cast from 2004 as Chief Inspector Hanne Krause.
Of particular note is her nomination for the 2004 German Television Award in the category "Best Supporting Actress" for her role as drug addict Nina Grote in the Tatort episode "Das Böse." Since 2010, she has embodied the role of LKA administrative assistant Magda Wächter in Tatort episodes produced by Hessischer Rundfunk alongside Ulrich Tukur as Felix Murot. From 2011 to 2017, she played the detective director Kessler in the ZDF crime series "Der Kriminalist."
Barbara Philipp has an extensive filmography that includes many film projects in addition to her TV appearances. Among the films she has appeared in are "Der Vorleser" (2008), "Die andere Heimat" (2013), "Einsamkeit und Sex und Mitleid" (2017), "Endzeit" (2018), "Lara" (2019) and "Es ist nur eine Phase, Hase" (2021).
In addition to her work in front of the camera and on stage, Philipp is also active as a radio play narrator and has participated, among other things, in the radio Tatort of the Hessischer Rundfunk. Between 2010 and 2015, she recorded numerous radio plays and features for the radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
