"Confessions of a Shopaholic" is a 2009 romantic comedy film directed by P.J. Hogan. The film is based on the best-selling novel "The Bargain Hunter" by Sophie Kinsella and is about a young woman named Rebecca Bloomwood (played by Isla Fisher) who has an obsessive shopping addiction.
Rebecca is an attractive but unemployed journalist who is constantly strapped for cash. She gets carried away with her shopping fever and falls deeper and deeper into debt. One day she finds a job at a financial magazine and tells her boss Luke Brandon (played by Hugh Dancy) that she is a real financial genius, although in reality she doesn't know anything about money. Rebecca falls in love with Luke, but her lies threaten to destroy everything.
While Rebecca tries to pay off her debts and overcome her addiction, she also has to deal with the challenges of her new job and the intrigues of her jealous colleague. Eventually, she is exposed and loses both her job and Luke. But in the end, she manages to pay off her debts, overcome her addiction and win Luke back.
In addition to Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy, the film's cast also includes Krysten Ritter, Joan Cusack and John Goodman. The cinematography was handled by Jo Willems. The film received a mixed reception from critics, but was successful at the box office. "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is an entertaining film about the challenges of a modern woman dealing with her addiction and the difficulties of growing up.
