The USS Tampa Bay submarine disappears while shadowing an Akula-class Russian submarine in the Arctic. Under the new command of Commander Joe Glass, the USS Arkansas takes off for investigation into the northern waters. At the same time, a Navy SEAL team under the command of Lieutenant Bill Beaman is being dispatched to discreetly observe a Russian naval base close to point of interest. The team finds out that the renegade Russian defense minister is carrying out a coup and is holding Russian President Zakarin prisoner. Durov intends to start a war between the nations to gain power.
