The supporting cast, such as Vincent Vincent, is also impressive. Supporting actors such as Vincent D'Onofrio as the quirky alien Edgar and Linda Fiorentino as Dr. Laurel Weaver, a scientist who gets caught up in events, also add to the film's complexity.
Don Peterman's camerawork is of a high standard and expertly sets off the visually stunning aliens and futuristic weaponry. The score by Danny Elfman also adds to the atmosphere and was nominated for a Grammy in 1998.
