Every time they hit him, he stood back up again. They hit him harder, still he got back to his feet. I think because of this they let him live."
James Donovan: "And I remind you if him?"
Rudolf Abel: "Standing man... standing man..."

"You always worry too much, Jim. The past is the past, my friend. Keep your eyes open, my friend. It's the ones who aren't after you that do you in the end."

Cox: "I can see the company's perspective. You're the last real threat on the table."
Terrier: "Then we've got nothing left to talk about."

Donovan: "The death sentence is not a foregone conclusion. Don't worry."
Abel: "I'm not afraid to die, Mr. Donovan. Although, it wouldn't be my first choice."

Donovan: "You have been charged with three counts and nineteen overt acts. Conspiracy to transmit United States defence and atomic secrets to the Soviet Union, conspiracy to gather secrets, and failing to register as a foreign agent."
Abel: "Do many foreign agents register?"

Donovan: "Were you beaten?"
Abel: "No. I was talked to. Offers were made."

Sophie: "Why did you take me?"
The BFG: "Because I hear your lonely heart, in all the secret whisperings of the world."
