Ming-Na Wen is a Macau-born US actress who was born on November 20, 1963. She is best known for her role as Agent Melinda May in the ABC series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and for her voice of Disney Princess Mulan in the 1998 animated film of the same name.

Wen moved with her family from Macau to Hong Kong at the age of four before moving to the U.S. at the age of nine. She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later attended Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting.

Wen began her acting career in the 1980s with guest roles in various television series such as "Knight Rider" and "The A-Team." However, her breakthrough came in 1993 with her role as Dr. Jing-Mei "Deb" Chen in the NBC series "Emergency Room - The Emergency Room," for which she received an Emmy nomination.

After "Emergency Room," Wen starred in several films and television series, including "Street Fighter," "Joy Luck Club," "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Eureka" and "The Mandalorian." She has also appeared in several Broadway productions, including "The King and I" and "Chinglish."

Wen is also active as a voice actress and, in addition to her role as Mulan in the film of the same name, has appeared in several video games, including "Fallout 4" and "Kingdom Hearts II."

In addition to her acting career, Wen is also involved in charitable causes and is an ambassador for the S.H.E. Global Foundation, which works to promote education, health and safety for women and girls.
