Biographie:
Sigi Zimmerschied was born in Passau on October 7, 1953, and grew up in a vernacular environment characterized by a Catholic kindergarten, an elementary school, a humanistic high school, a sports club and service as an altar boy.
Zimmerschied began his artistic career as early as the 1970s and caused a sensation with his performance of the satire "Die Konferenz," which was critical of the church. He had to face a trial for "blasphemy," which he successfully denied. In 1976 he presented his first cabaret solo program "Zwischenmenschen".
His talent and distinctive style brought him recognition and success. In 1980, he received the German Cabaret Prize for his program "A ganz a miesa, dafeida, dreckiga Dreg san sie" and was awarded the AZ Star of the Year and the TZ Rose of the Year. In 1982 he received the actor prize of the Locarno Film Festival for his role in Josef Rödl's film "Grenzenlos" and played the role of Mr. Arira in "Peppermint Frieden" by Marianne Rosenbaum. In 1984 he was awarded the Ernst Hoferichter Prize.
Zimmerschied also worked as an actor in various films. He played the leading role in Josef Rödl's film "Der wilde Clown" (1986) and in Manfred Stelzer's "Himmelsheim" (1988). He was awarded the Austrian Cabaret Prize for his acting achievements. He was also active as an author, publishing books such as "Kleinstadtbrevier" (1978), "Klassentreffen" (1989) and "Passauer Kalendarium" (1992-1993).
Zimmerschied continued his successful career and presented other solo programs such as "Ausschwitzen" (1990), "Ihobs" (1999), "Diddihasi" (2002), "Scheißhaussepp" (2005), "Hirnrisse" (2007), "Lachdichter" (2010), "Reißwolf" (2011), "Multiple Lois" (2013), "Tendenz steigend" (2015) and "Heil - vom Koma zum Amok" (2019).
Zimmerschied has received numerous awards, including the Academy of Fine Arts Actors Award (2008), the Karl Valentin Grand Prize (2017) and the German Actors Award for the police drama "Schuld" (2014). His first novel "Der Komparse" was published in 2017.
In addition to his stage work, Zimmerschied has also appeared in television roles, including appearances in "Polizeiruf" with Jörg Hube and Matthias Brandt, "Tatort" and "Unter Verdacht" with Senta Berger. He also appeared in various films,including Markus H. Rosenmüller's "Räuber Kneißl" and "Perlmutterfarbe", Max Färberböck's "Sau Nummer vier", Markus Goller's "Eine ganz heiße Nummer" and Ed Herzog's "Dampnudelblues", "Winterkartoffelknödel" and "Schweinskopf al dente".
Sigi Zimmerschied lives today as a versatile artist in Passau and Munich. He is active as a cabaret artist, actor, director and author.
