"22 Bullets" (original title: "L'Immortel") is a French thriller from 2010 directed by Richard Berry. The film is based on a true story and tells the tale of former gangster boss Charly Mattei (portrayed by Jean Reno), who survives after an assassination attempt and seeks revenge on his enemies.
Mattei has retired after a bloody career as a criminal and leads a quiet life as a family man and businessman. But when he is attacked one day by a group of armed men and survives seriously injured, he decides to take revenge on his former business partners who betrayed him and left him for dead.
Mattei is assisted by his friend and former accomplice Tony Zacchia (Kad Merad), who helps him find the masterminds behind the assassination. But while Mattei tries to track down his enemies and bring them to justice, he also has to fight his own past and his demons.
