Al Pacino is an American actor, director and producer born on April 25, 1940 in New York City. He is best known for his roles in such classics as The Godfather, Serpico, Scarface, Heat and The Irishman.
Pacino was born into an Italian-American family and grew up in the East Harlem neighborhood of New York City. His father left the family at an early age, and Pacino often had to take care of his younger siblings while his mother worked.
After graduating from high school, Pacino began training as an actor at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York. In the 1960s he worked in the theater and had his first film role in Me, Natalie (1969).
However, his breakthrough came in 1972 with The Godfather, in which he played the role of Michael Corleone. For this role he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In the following years he starred in a number of successful films such as Serpico, Dog Days and Scarface.
Pacino won his first Oscar in 1993 for his role in The Scent of Women. He also received Oscar nominations for his roles in Serpico, The Godfather Part II, Dog Days, Dick Tracy, Glengarry Glen Ross and The Irishman.
In addition to his work as an actor, Pacino has also directed and produced. He also founded the Actor's Studio in New York City.
Pacino has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Kennedy Center Honor. He is also a dedicated activist and advocates for various social and political issues.
