Biographie:
Karin Himboldt, born on February 8, 1920 in Munich and passed away on December 1, 2005 in Basel, was a German actress. She grew up in Copenhagen and received her acting training in Berlin. Himboldt gained her first stage experience in Kiel before landing her debut film role in Hermann Pfeiffer's "Falschmünzer" in 1940.
However, it was in the same year that the already famous actor Heinz Rühmann, while searching for a female co-star for his next film "Quax, der Bruchpilot," came across a stack of photos and was immediately captivated by the straw-blonde 20-year-old Himboldt. This encounter marked the beginning of her most well-known role. Three years later, Rühmann brought her back to his side, and she portrayed Eva, the school principal's daughter, in the comedy "Die Feuerzangenbowle."
Due to the collapse of the German Reich, her final two films, "Tierarzt Dr. Vlimmen" with Hans Söhnker and "Der Scheiterhaufen" with Ewald Balser, remained unfinished. Himboldt was included in the Gottbegnadeten-Liste (God-gifted list) of the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda during this time.
After the war, Himboldt was unable to regain her previous successes and only played supporting roles. She filmed her last movie in 1959 and appeared on camera one final time in May 1958 for the TV production "Der keusche Lebemann" alongside Willy Millowitsch.
Himboldt married Carl Adams, the director of a Basel chemical company, and withdrew completely from the film industry and public life. She spent her final years in a nursing home in Basel, where she passed away in December 2005 at the age of 85. Her grave is located in the Hörnli cemetery.
