Gert Fröbe, born February 25, 1913 in Oberplanitz, now Zwickau, was a German actor best known for his iconic role as Goldfinger in the 1964 James Bond film of the same name.
Fröbe first began his career as a stage actor and achieved his first successes in German films in the 1940s. His striking appearance and versatile acting talent made him a sought-after actor. He starred in a variety of genres, including comedies, dramas and thrillers, and gained wide recognition for his impressive performances.
His breakthrough on the international stage came with the role of the ruthless villain Auric Goldfinger in "Goldfinger". Fröbe embodied the villain with a mixture of charm, intelligence and cold-blooded malice, which made him one of the most famous Bond antagonists of all time.
