Robin Williams (1951-2014) was an American actor and comedian. He was born on July 21, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in a wealthy family. His mother was a fashion designer and his father managed a car rental company.
Williams studied at the Juilliard School in New York City and began his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1970s. His first big break was the television series "Mork & Mindy," in which he played the role of the alien Mork. The series became a huge success and made Williams one of the most famous comedians of his time.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Williams appeared in a variety of films, including "Good Morning, Vietnam," "Dead Poets Society," "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Good Will Hunting," for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. He was also a sought-after voice actor, lending his voice to characters in films such as "Aladdin" and "Happy Feet."
In addition to his work as an actor and comedian, Williams was also involved in charitable causes, notably helping the homeless and fighting cancer. In August 2014, he was found dead in his home in California. The official cause of death was suicide.
Robin Williams is considered one of the most influential comedians and actors of his generation and left a significant legacy in the film and entertainment industry.
