Michael Fassbender, born April 2, 1977 in Heidelberg, Germany, is a German-Irish actor known for his forceful and versatile acting performances.
Fassbender grew up in Ireland and began his acting career on stage before achieving his breakthrough in film. His international success came with the role of hunger-striking IRA activist Bobby Sands in "Hunger" (2008), a film directed by Steve McQueen. Fassbender received several awards and recognitions for his impressive performance.
This was followed by other outstanding roles in films such as "Inglourious Basterds" (2009), "Shame" (2011), "Prometheus - Dark Signs" (2012) and "12 Years a Slave" (2013). For the latter, he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Fassbender has earned a reputation as a versatile actor, able to empathize with different characters and give them depth and authenticity.
