John Malkovich is an American actor, producer and director. He was born on December 9, 1953 in Christopher, Illinois, USA.

Malkovich studied acting at Illinois State University and at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, where he began his career. He moved to New York City in the 1980s, where he appeared in numerous theater productions before becoming known in films such as "The Killing Fields" (1984) and "Dangerous Liaisons" (1988).

Malkovich is known for his versatile roles and his ability to play complex and unusual characters. He received Oscar nominations for his roles in "Places in the Heart" (1984) and "In the Line of Fire" (1993). His other notable films include "Empire of the Sun" (1987), "Being John Malkovich" (1999), "Burn After Reading" (2008) and "Red" (2010).

Malkovich has also worked as a director, including on films such as "The Dancer Upstairs" (2002) and "The Good Canary" (2009), as well as theater productions in Europe and the United States.
