Matthew McConaughey is an American actor and film producer who was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas. He grew up in Longview, Texas, and studied at the University of Texas at Austin.

McConaughey began his acting career in the late 1990s and became known for his roles in such films as "A Time to Kill" (1996), "Contact" (1997) and "EDtv" (1999). He gained wider fame for his role in the romantic comedy "The Wedding Planner" (2001) alongside Jennifer Lopez.

In 2013, McConaughey won an Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in the drama "Dallas Buyers Club" (2013). He was also highly praised for his leading roles in "True Detective" (2014) and "Interstellar" (2014).
